The Alanganallur Jallikattu event will be inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on January 17, said Minister P. Moorthy.
Jallikattu competitions will be held at Avaniyapuram, Palamedu, and Alanganallur on January 15, 16, and 17 respectively. The ceremonial planting of the auspicious pole (muhurtha kaal) for the Alanganallur and Palamedu events was held yesterday.
Speaking to reporters after attending the function, Minister P. Moorthy said that preparations for the Alanganallur Jallikattu have begun and that this year’s events will be conducted in a more grand manner compared to last year. He confirmed that the Alanganallur Jallikattu will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister on January 17.
The Palamedu Jallikattu event will be inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on January 16. Ministers, senior officials, Jallikattu enthusiasts, and members of the public are expected to take part in these events.
Traditionally, a car was awarded as a prize to the best bull tamer. However, based on demands from the PMK party and farmers, it has now been decided to award a tractor instead.
All arrangements for the events are being carried out under the supervision of the District Collector. Necessary steps have been taken to ensure that the competitions are conducted smoothly and without any issues.
The muhurtha kaal planting ceremony was attended by District Collector Praveen Kumar and MLA Venkatesan, among others.
