Tamilisai Soundararajan Clarifies: “Metro Projects Not Rejected”
BJP senior leader Tamilisai Soundararajan has clarified that the Metro Rail projects for Madurai and Coimbatore have not been rejected by the Central Government, but that additional technical details have been requested.
Speaking to reporters at Coimbatore Airport ahead of Prime Minister Modi’s visit for the Natural Farming Conference, she said:
“Prime Minister Modi has been consistently announcing various schemes to support farmers. But instead of implementing them, Chief Minister Stalin keeps writing letters.
The Metro projects for Madurai and Coimbatore have not been rejected. The Centre has only asked for further documentation and feasibility details.
Tamil Nadu has received the highest number of Vande Bharat trains in the country. Why would the Central Government deny Metro projects?
Approval will be given based on whether basic requirements and infrastructure are available.
The confusion around the Metro issue was created by the State Government, and Chief Minister Stalin must take responsibility for misleading the public.”
This clarification comes amid ongoing political debate after the State Government claimed that the Centre had rejected the Metro proposals.
