ICICI Bank Limited is one of India’s largest private sector banks. It was originally promoted by ICICI Limited, an Indian financial institution, established in 1955 to provide project financing to Indian industry.
ICICI Bank was established in 1994 as a subsidiary of ICICI Limited. Over the years, it expanded rapidly by offering a wide range of banking products and financial services to corporate and retail customers through a variety of delivery channels and specialized subsidiaries.
ICICI Bank became a publicly listed company in 1998. In 2002, ICICI Bank merged with its parent company, ICICI Limited, to create a single financial services entity.
