Mobile Phones Banned at Alagar Kovil From Sept 1

A new restriction on carrying mobile phones into the Kallalagar Temple at Alagar Kovil in Madurai will come into effect from September 1, according to the temple administration.
Under the new arrangement, devotees visiting the temple can deposit their mobile phones at a security locker facility located at the entrance by paying a fee of Rs.5 and collecting a receipt.
After completing darshan, devotees can show the receipt and collect their mobile phones, while those who secretly carry phones into the temple in violation of the restriction will face legal action, the temple commissioner has stated.

The Kallalagar Temple at Alagar Kovil in Madurai attracts devotees who visit the shrine for darshan. As part of measures concerning order and security within the temple premises, the administration has announced that mobile phones will not be permitted inside the temple from September 1.

Under the new procedure, devotees arriving at the temple must deposit their mobile phones at the security locker facility located at the temple entrance. A fee of Rs.5 will be collected for depositing the phone, after which a receipt will be issued to the devotee.

Visitors proceeding for darshan can leave their mobile phones at the designated security facility and enter the temple premises after receiving the receipt. Once the darshan is completed, they can return to the facility and show the receipt to collect their deposited mobile phones.

The arrangement is intended to prevent mobile phone use inside the temple and help maintain an orderly and peaceful environment for devotees during darshan. Devotees are expected to cooperate with the procedure announced by the temple administration.

Those depositing their phones at the security facility are advised to keep the receipt safely until they complete their visit. The receipt will be required to identify the deposited phone and obtain it back after darshan.
