Motorists Advised to Use Alternate Routes During Bridge Works

The Madurai City Traffic Police have announced temporary traffic diversions on the Vaigai South Bank Road due to ongoing construction work at the Goripalayam bridge. The diversions will come into effect from the night of December 15 and will remain until the completion of the construction work.

Bus Route Diversion

Buses operating from Mattuthavani to Simmakkal via the Vaigai South Bank Road will be rerouted through
KK Nagar Arch – Outpost – Goripalayam – AV Bridge.

Alternative Routes for Other Vehicles

Vehicles traveling from Obula Padithurai Bridge Junction to MGR Bridge Junction via Yanaikkal Causeway may proceed via

  • Munichalai Main Road – Nelpettai Signal Junction, or
  • Vaigai North Bank Road – Theni Anandham Junction.

Vehicles traveling from MGR Bridge Junction to Obula Padithurai Bridge Junction can take

  • Vaigai North Bank Road via Theni Anandham, or
  • Yanaikkal Causeway up to Nelpettai.

According to traffic police officials, the diversions have been implemented to ensure smooth traffic flow and facilitate uninterrupted construction work. Motorists are advised to follow the designated diversion routes and comply with traffic police instructions.
