New Thiruvananthapuram – Tambaram Amrit Bharat Train Welcomed at Madurai

The new weekly ‘Amrit Bharat’ train service operating between Thiruvananthapuram and Tambaram received a grand floral welcome at Madurai Railway Station by railway officials led by the Divisional Railway Manager.

The Amrit Bharat train service was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a function held in Thiruvananthapuram. Consisting of 22 coaches, the train departs from Tambaram every Wednesday at 5:00 PM and reaches Thiruvananthapuram the next day at 8:00 AM.

In the return direction, the Thiruvananthapuram–Tambaram (16122) service departs from Thiruvananthapuram every Thursday at 10:40 AM and arrives at Tambaram at 11:45 PM the same day.

The train halts at Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Vriddhachalam, Ariyalur, Srirangam, Tiruchirappalli, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Sattur, Kovilpatti, Tirunelveli, Valliyur, Nagercoil Town and Kuzhithurai railway stations.

The train comprises 8 second-class sleeper coaches, 11 second-class general coaches, 2 specially designed coaches for persons with disabilities, and one pantry car.

At Madurai Railway Station, the inaugural special train was welcomed by showering flowers and waving flags. Madurai Divisional Railway Manager Om Prakash Meena inspected the train along with Senior Divisional Operations Manager R. Siva, Senior Divisional Engineer V. Suryamoorthy, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager D. L. Ganesh, Additional Divisional Railway Manager L. N. Rao and other senior officials.
