Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the newly constructed building of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Thoppur in Madurai on March 1 during an official function at Mandela Nagar. On the same day, he will also launch several Central government schemes and later address an election campaign rally organized by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Due to security considerations, both the government function and the political rally will be conducted at the same venue.

Preparatory meetings were held by Union Minister L. Murugan along with District Collector Praveenkumar, City Police Commissioner Loganathan, and Superintendent of Police Aravind to review stage arrangements, seating facilities, layered security deployment, and traffic diversions. The Union Minister also inspected the rally venue and held consultations with party functionaries regarding organizational measures.
According to BJP functionaries, the same venue had hosted the AIIMS foundation stone ceremony and an AIADMK-BJP alliance rally in 2019, both attended by the Prime Minister. They stated that the upcoming inauguration and alliance rally would continue that precedent at the identical location.
Officials affirmed that elaborate security and public convenience measures have been put in place ahead of the twin events scheduled for March 1.
