South Indian Bank (SIB) is one of the earliest and leading private sector banks in India, founded on 29 January 1929 in Thrissur, Kerala. It was established by a group of enterprising men to provide a safe, efficient, and service-oriented banking institution for the people of South India.
Initially started as a private limited company, it became a scheduled bank in 1946 under the Reserve Bank of India Act. Over time, it expanded its presence throughout India, especially in South Indian states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh.
