Tension Near Tirupparankundram After Deepam Lit at Usual Location

Hindu groups protested in Tirupparankundram after the traditional Deepam was not lit on the hilltop lamp post despite the High Court granting permission.

Due to security concerns raised over the hilltop location’s proximity (50 meters) to the Sikandar Dargah, HR&CE filed an appeal and the Deepam was lit at the usual Uchi Pillaiyar Mandapam instead.

Protestors clashed with police when prevented from climbing the hill. Eventually, they lit camphor on the hill path, prayed, and dispersed peacefully.

Local tensions continue, with the issue resurfacing months after the Dargah-related sacrificial controversy.
