TN Transport Dept Issues Announcement

The Tamil Nadu government has announced the operation of special bus services across the state in view of the upcoming extended holiday period. The initiative has been introduced to help the public travel conveniently to their native places while reducing overcrowding at major bus terminals and ensuring smooth transportation services.

According to the Transport Department, a large number of special buses will be operated from the Kilambakkam bus terminus in Chennai to several districts across the state. Officials stated that 290 special buses will be operated on May 21, followed by 595 buses on May 22 and 650 buses on May 23. The increase in services comes as authorities expect a heavy rush of passengers traveling during the consecutive holidays.

In addition to Chennai, around 200 special buses will also be operated from major cities including Tiruppur, Erode, Coimbatore, Madurai and Tiruchirappalli to various destinations throughout the state. Officials said the arrangements were made to manage passenger movement efficiently and avoid congestion during peak travel days.

The Transport Corporation has also advised passengers to make use of advance reservation facilities wherever possible to avoid last-minute inconvenience. Additional staff and monitoring arrangements have reportedly been deployed at bus terminals to coordinate operations and assist travelers.

Authorities expressed confidence that the special arrangements would help ensure safer and hassle-free travel for the public during the holiday season.
