In a surprising move with no prior announcement, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has officially confirmed its second state conference following an early morning bhoomi pooja (groundbreaking ceremony) in Madurai today.
Party president Thalapathy Vijay announced on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle that the mega conference will take place on Monday, August 25, 2025, in Madurai.
“Greetings to the people of Tamil Nadu who live in my heart, and to all party comrades.
I’m happy to announce that Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’s second state-level conference will be held in Madurai on August 25th, 2025.
Let the glorious past return. Victory is certain.” – Vijay, via X
Vijay launched his party in February 2024, and the first state conference was held in October in Vikravandi, Villupuram district, with grand arrangements. Following that event, criticism emerged suggesting Vijay had distanced himself from politics.
However, recent developments have reversed that perception:
These actions are widely seen as a strong political re-entry by Vijay.
While the first conference took nearly four months of location scouting (Trichy, Salem, Madurai, etc.), this time TVK silently completed the groundwork in Madurai without leaks or speculation.
Key planned features of the upcoming conference include:
In 2011, Jayalalithaa’s historic conference in Madurai laid the foundation for a regime change in Tamil Nadu. Now, ahead of the 2026 state elections, Vijay’s decision to host TVK’s second conference in Madurai is seen as a significant political strategy.
This second state-level conference is being seen as a crucial milestone for TVK and Vijay’s political journey. With massive arrangements and high expectations, the event is poised to be a turning point for both the party and Tamil Nadu politics.
