Planned Power Shutdown Announced in Madurai

The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) has announced a scheduled power shutdown across several parts of Madurai district on June 3, 2026, due to monthly maintenance works aimed at improving the reliability and safety of the electricity distribution network. The planned interruption will take place from morning to afternoon in different regions, allowing maintenance teams to carry out repair works, remove tree branches obstructing power lines, and inspect electrical infrastructure. Residents, businesses, and institutions in the affected areas have been advised to make necessary arrangements in advance.

Pottapanaiyur, RM Colony, Vilathur, Ilamanur, Kozhikkudi, Sakkimangalam, Bhuvaneswari Colony, Ambedkar Nagar, Andarkottaram, Samathuvapuram and surrounding areas affected from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Kinnimangalam, Mavilipatti, Karumathur, Sakkalipatti, Kovilankulam, Vadapalanji, Thenpalanji and Palgalai Nagar scheduled for power shutdown from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Alanganallur, National Sugar Mill, P. Mettupatti, Pannaikudi, Alagapuri, Pudupatti, Siruvalai, Kuravankulam, Meenakshipuram, Idayapatti and areas fed by the Alanganallur Substation affected from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM

The monthly maintenance programme is part of the electricity board’s ongoing efforts to strengthen distribution infrastructure and ensure uninterrupted power supply in the long term. During these maintenance activities, officials will undertake preventive inspections, rectify minor technical faults, and improve operational efficiency across the network. Such planned outages are routinely conducted to minimize unexpected disruptions and enhance the safety of electrical systems.

Authorities have advised residents to charge essential electronic devices beforehand and make alternative arrangements for critical power-dependent activities. Commercial establishments, educational institutions, and small-scale industries operating in the affected regions have also been requested to adjust their schedules accordingly. The electricity board stated that power supply will be restored immediately after the successful completion of maintenance works and urged consumers to cooperate with field staff during the shutdown period.

Electricity Board officials confirmed that every effort will be made to complete the maintenance works within the scheduled timeframe and restore normal supply as early as possible.
