Ban on High-Pressure Water Spray at Kallazhagar Fest

The temple administration has banned the use of high-pressure pumps to spray water during the famous Kallazhagar entering the river ritual in Madurai. The announcement was made as part of precautionary and regulatory measures to ensure the safety of devotees, preserve the sanctity of the ritual, and maintain order during the large-scale spiritual event. At the same time, officials clarified that devotees may sprinkle only clean water, free from chemicals or any other liquids, on Lord Kallazhagar in accordance with traditional custom and temple practices.

Festival Restrictions
Ban on high-pressure motor pumps, improved crowd safety, protection of traditional worship practices, stronger festival regulation, controlled water sprinkling during rituals

Prohibition on chemically mixed or non-pure liquids, permission only for clean water, implementation of age-old ritual customs, preventive measures to avoid public inconvenience, administrative monitoring during the event

Advisory for devotees to follow discipline, warning of action against violators, enhanced security and supervision, steps to preserve the spiritual significance of the event, appeal for public cooperation during the festival

As the Kallazhagar river-entry ceremony draws thousands of devotees every year and remains one of Madurai’s most significant religious festivals, the temple administration has urged the public to strictly follow the guidelines in the interest of safety, tradition, and smooth conduct of the celebrations.
