Flag Hoisting, Simhasanam, and Processions – Day One Celebrated Grandly

The first day of the annual Chithirai Festival in Madurai was successfully conducted yesterday (Sunday, April 19, 2026), marking the grand commencement of one of Tamil Nadu’s most significant religious celebrations. The festival began with the flag hoisting ceremony held between 10:30 AM and 10:59 AM, drawing thousands of devotees. Evening processions from 7:00 PM to 10:30 PM featuring traditional temple vehicles were also completed smoothly.
