Devotees Gathered for Special Darshan
On the first day of the festival, the day before yesterday, Goddess Meenakshi appeared in the Raja Rajeshwari alankaram. Yesterday, the second day, devotees gathered to worship the Goddess in the Ardhanareeswarar-inspired decoration.
The temple’s Meenakshi shrine and Golu Mandapam had been adorned with colourful flowers for the celebrations. The arrangements contributed to the festive atmosphere, while the exhibition in the second prakaram presented religious and mythological themes through sculptures and tableaux.
The 11 exhibition halls featured representations of various deities, manifestations of the Goddess and episodes associated with the Thiruvilaiyadal Puranam. These displays offered visitors opportunities to explore religious traditions and stories associated with Hindu mythology.
Meanwhile, the Thirukalyana Mandapam hosted a range of cultural programmes. Spiritual discourses, classical dance performances, veena music and Carnatic music formed part of the festival programme, bringing together devotional observances and traditional arts.
Festival to Continue Until October 20
A large number of devotees visited the temple to witness the special decoration and seek the blessings of Goddess Meenakshi. Worshippers stood in a long queue for darshan of the deity in the day’s festive appearance.
The Navaratri celebrations are scheduled to continue with further religious observances and decorative presentations over the coming days. The festival remains a significant annual devotional occasion for worshippers visiting the renowned temple in Madurai.
Visitors planning to attend the remaining celebrations should check the temple administration’s official announcements for darshan timings, programme schedules and any applicable visitor arrangements before travelling.
