Madurai Polytechnic Begins Admissions for 2026–27 Academic Year

Admissions for the 2026–27 academic year have commenced at the Tamil Nadu Government Polytechnic College in Madurai, one of the state’s oldest technical institutions established in 1946. The autonomous institution has announced the introduction of three new diploma programmes—Digital Manufacturing, Robotics and Automation, and Printing and Packaging Technology—from the upcoming academic session. College authorities stated that the last date for applications to first-year full-time and part-time diploma programmes is May 30, 2026, while applications for direct second-year admissions will close on May 25, 2026.

The institution currently offers a wide range of full-time diploma courses, including Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Technology, Polymer Technology, Web Designing, and Logistics. In addition, part-time diploma programmes in Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering are conducted during evening hours to support working candidates and other learners. With an annual tuition fee of only ₹2,200, the college continues to attract students seeking affordable technical education.

Students who have passed Class 10 are eligible to apply for first-year diploma admissions. Candidates who have completed Class 12 in any stream, including Commerce, as well as students who have completed Class 10 followed by a two-year ITI programme, are eligible for direct admission into the second year of diploma courses. Applications can be submitted through the tnpoly.in portal, while students facing difficulties with online registration may apply directly at the college with the required certificates. The application fee has been fixed at ₹150, while candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories are exempted from paying the fee.

Students admitted to the institution can benefit from free bus travel passes, railway fare concessions, government scholarship schemes, campus recruitment opportunities, and lateral entry into the second year of Bachelor of Engineering programmes after diploma completion. The Principal of the college confirmed that all eligible students are encouraged to apply before the respective deadlines and take advantage of the academic and financial support facilities available.
