The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board has announced a planned power shutdown across several parts of Madurai district on July 18 to facilitate routine maintenance of electricity distribution infrastructure. Power supply will remain suspended from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in many city areas, while selected locations around Melur will experience an outage until 5:00 p.m. The scheduled interruption will enable engineers and field personnel to carry out preventive maintenance, repair minor faults, trim tree branches near power lines, and improve the overall reliability and safety of the electricity network. Residents, commercial establishments and institutions in the affected areas have been advised to make necessary arrangements in advance.
