π Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple to Remain Closed for Devotees on July 13 and 14, 2025
It has been officially announced that darshan will not be permitted at the Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple on July 13 and 14, 2025.
The reason: the upcoming Kumbabishekam (consecration ceremony) of the Thirupparankundram Subramanya Swamy Temple, one of the six sacred abodes (Arupadai Veedu) of Lord Murugan.
Every year, on the occasion of Panguni Uthiram, Meenakshi and Sundareswarar travel to Thirupparankundram to attend the divine wedding of Lord Murugan and Deivanai. On that day, the Madurai temple remains closed.
Similarly, this year, due to the Kumbabishekam celebrations, the temple will remain closed for two days.
