Modi Pushes Work From Home Again

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged Indian citizens to adopt austerity measures and coordinated public participation to tackle the ongoing global economic crisis, rising fuel prices, and foreign exchange challenges. Addressing public gatherings in Hyderabad and Vadodara in Gujarat, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to reduce fuel consumption, postpone gold purchases temporarily, increase the use of public transportation, and encourage digital work culture to protect India’s foreign exchange reserves. He stated that the aftereffects of the COVID-19 pandemic, ongoing global economic instability, and escalating tensions in the Middle East have severely impacted international supply chains and increased import costs for countries including India.

Affected Sectors and Key Measures
Hyderabad, Vadodara, Middle East region, urban centers across India, educational institutions, transport sectors, industrial markets, fuel-dependent industries.
Rising petrol and diesel prices, increased import expenditure, pressure on foreign exchange reserves, higher gold import dependency, disrupted supply chains, inflationary burden on consumers.
Promotion of metro rail services, adoption of electric vehicles, expansion of public transport usage, revival of work-from-home culture, increased use of video conferencing, reopening of online education systems.
Encouragement of domestic products, reduction of unnecessary travel, fuel conservation measures, postponement of gold purchases for one year, adoption of digital alternatives, reduction in luxury spending habits.

The Prime Minister expressed confidence that India would overcome the present economic challenges through collective discipline and responsible public participation, similar to the country’s united response during the COVID-19 pandemic.
