New Bridge Project Launched in Madurai at ₹25 Lakh Cost

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen urban infrastructure, a foundation stone–laying ceremony (Bhoomi Pooja) was held for the construction of a new link bridge in Madurai at an estimated cost of ₹25 lakh. The event was led by Minister for Commercial Taxes and Registration, P. Moorthy.

The new bridge will connect Al-Ameen Nagar Main Road with Azhagar Koil Main Road in Ward No. 8 of Zone 1 under the Madurai Corporation. The ceremony was held on December 14, 2025, with Madurai Corporation Commissioner Chithra Vijayan presiding over the event.

Madurai Corporation continues to implement various development projects across its 100 wards, including the construction of new asphalt and paver block roads, drinking water schemes, stormwater drains, underground sewerage systems, and streetlight maintenance. As part of this initiative, the new link bridge has been planned to ensure smooth traffic flow and easier connectivity for residents of the Al-Ameen Nagar area.

The project will be executed using funds allocated under the East Assembly Constituency Development Fund, with construction work officially commencing following the Bhoomi Pooja.

Several officials and representatives attended the event, including Assistant Commissioner Ravikumar, Public Relations Officer Maheswaran, Assistant Executive Engineer Arokiya Seviyar, Assistant Engineer Murugan, Corporation Councillors Radhika Gaurishankar and Muthukumarie, along with other municipal officials and members of the public.
