PM Modi to Dedicate ₹4,500 Crore Projects in Thoothukudi on July 26!

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Tamil Nadu on an official two-day tour this Saturday and Sunday (July 26 and 27). During the visit, he will inaugurate and dedicate developmental projects worth over ₹4,500 crore across various sectors.

Key Announcements:

  • Railway Development Projects (Worth ₹1,030 Crore):
    PM Modi will dedicate multiple railway infrastructure projects undertaken across Tamil Nadu aimed at improving connectivity and efficiency.
  • Electrification of Madurai–Bodinayakkanur Line (90 km):
    This ₹99 crore project will promote eco-friendly transport and benefit regular passengers, farmers, students, and small traders in Madurai and Theni districts. The initiative is also expected to support tourism and encourage faster express train services in the region.
  • Doubling of Nagercoil Town–Kanyakumari Section (21 km):
    As part of the Thiruvananthapuram–Kanyakumari railway corridor, this ₹650 crore project will significantly strengthen southern Tamil Nadu’s rail connectivity. It will enhance capacity for both passenger and freight trains, contributing to operational efficiency.
  • New Doubling Projects:
    PM Modi will lay the foundation for two more railway doubling initiatives:
    • Aralvaimozhi – Nagercoil Junction (12.87 km)
    • Tirunelveli – Melapalayam (3.6 km)
      Combined at a cost of ₹283 crore, these will help reduce travel time on key routes like Chennai–Kanyakumari.
