Madurai Mattuthavani Bus Stand to Undergo ₹16.50 Crore Redevelopment – Government Grants Administrative Approval!

Madurai Mattuthavani MGR Integrated Bus Terminal is one of Tamil Nadu’s most important transportation hubs. Used daily by thousands of passengers, the Tamil Nadu government has allocated ₹16.50 crore to upgrade the facilities at this bus stand and has granted administrative approval for the project.

Key Features:

  • The shelters and flooring of the Mattuthavani bus stand, which has 8 platforms, will be completely renovated.
  • Without demolishing any existing buildings, the redesign will enhance both aesthetics and passenger convenience with a modern look.
  • Facilities such as bus bays, entrance curves, and seating areas for passengers will all be improved.
  • A temporary bus terminal will be set up during the renovation period to ensure the public is not inconvenienced while the work is underway.
  • The redevelopment will be carried out under the supervision of a team led by Municipal Commissioner Chitra Vijayan.
  • Earlier, ₹1.8 crore worth of renovation work was completed in December 2023, and this current project is a large-scale structural upgrade.

Officials have stated that work will begin soon after the tender announcement is released.
