Madurai District, Azhagar Malai: The Aadi Amavasai festival at the famous Kallazhagar Temple will be held on July 24th with grandeur. In connection with the festival, thousands of devotees will take a holy dip at the Nupurakanga Sacred Spring located at the summit of Azhagar Malai.
It is believed that taking a dip in the sacred waters on this day will bring prosperity and blessings. After bathing, the devotees will visit the Rakkayi Amman Shrine located nearby for darshan and prayers.
On the day of the festival, special abhishekam, decorations, and lamp rituals will be performed for Rakkayi Amman. The work to set up wooden barricades for devotees to bathe at the Nupurakanga sacred spring is in full swing.
Later in the evening, at the foot of Azhagar Malai, the 18th step Karuppan Swamy temple will witness the ritual of sandalwood application. Following this, Kallazhagar Perumal will make his divine procession on the Garuda Vahanam, with the devotees experiencing bliss and devotion in the procession.
The arrangements for the festival are being coordinated by the Trustee Board and the Temple Administration.
