“Came Seeking Peace… Faced Illegal Tickets?” – High Court Cracks Down!

The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has ordered that criminal action must be taken against individuals involved in the illegal sale of special darshan tickets at the Thiruchendur Subramanya Swamy Temple.

The court emphasized that both the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department and the police must work together to completely eliminate the unauthorized ticketing system within the temple premises.

Thiruchendur Murugan Temple is one of the six sacred abodes (Arupadai Veedu) of Lord Murugan and is visited by thousands of devotees seeking spiritual peace and blessings. Concerns were raised in court over reports of unauthorized individuals selling tickets for darshan (temple viewing), prompting legal intervention.

During the hearing today, the judges remarked:

“Devotees come to the temple in search of mental peace. Even such sacred places cannot be allowed to become grounds for illegal activities.”

The court has directed that:

  • All unauthorized ticket sales must be strictly prevented.
  • Criminal cases must be filed against those engaging in such illegal practices.
  • The HR&CE department and the police must act jointly to ensure proper control.
  • Authorities must ensure that devotees are able to have peaceful darshan without harassment or exploitation.

The judgment is seen as a significant step toward restoring order and integrity in one of Tamil Nadu’s most revered temples.
