Ajithkumar (27), who worked as a security guard at the Bhadrakaliyamman Temple in Madappuram, died on June 28 after being brutally assaulted by members of the special task force during an investigation.

June 27:
- A woman named Nikita from Madurai visited the temple and handed her car keys to Ajithkumar, asking him to park it in the shade.
- Later, she reported that 10 sovereigns of gold jewelry and ₹2,200 cash were missing from her bag.
Ajithkumar and 4 others were arrested.
While the others were released, Ajithkumar was taken separately for interrogation by the special police.
June 28:
- Ajithkumar died due to assault by special task force police.
- A video showing him being beaten with a cable inside a cattle shed went viral.
- Post-mortem confirmed 18 injury marks and multiple bleeding wounds.
