Kallazhagar to Offer Darshan at 494 Mandagapadis – A Highlight of the Chithirai Festival

The world-renowned Chithirai Festival in Madurai has officially commenced with the announcement of the key event featuring Lord Kallazhagar’s procession from Alagar Kovil to Madurai. According to the official schedule, Kallazhagar will depart on April 29 between 6:00 PM and 6:15 PM in a golden palanquin. The deity will halt at multiple mandagapadis en route, offering darshan to devotees, intensifying the festive spirit across the district. The grand “Ethir Sevai” reception at Moondru Mavadi on April 30 and the ceremonial entry into the Vaigai River on May 1 have further heightened anticipation among devotees.
