Madurai Launches Direct Complaint Helpline

The Madurai City Municipal Corporation has introduced a new telephone and WhatsApp-based grievance redressal facility to ensure swift resolution of civic issues such as drinking water supply disruptions, road damage, waste management lapses, and streetlight failures. Residents of Madurai can now directly register their complaints by calling 90039 90030 or by sending details, along with photographs or videos, to 96001 12811 via WhatsApp. Officials stated that the initiative aims to streamline communication between the public and civic authorities and enable faster inspection and resolution of complaints across the city.

Affected Areas and Services:
All zones within Madurai city limits, drinking water distribution, road maintenance, solid waste management, underground drainage, streetlight maintenance.

Water scarcity, pipeline leakages, potholes, delay in garbage clearance, drainage blockages, malfunctioning streetlights.

Direct complaint registration through helpline number 90039 90030, WhatsApp submissions to 96001 12811, facility to attach photographic and video evidence.

Request for accurate address and complete complaint details, immediate field inspection measures, structured monitoring for timely redressal, emphasis on public cooperation.

Officials expect that the new system will enhance transparency in civic administration, simplify grievance reporting, strengthen accountability among departments, and build greater public trust in municipal services. The move is part of broader efforts to modernize urban governance and ensure that everyday civic concerns are addressed without delay.

Residents have been urged to provide precise location details, contact information, and a clear description of the issue while lodging complaints to facilitate swift action.

Municipal authorities emphasized that active public participation is essential for improving urban services and appealed to citizens to make full use of the newly introduced facility to ensure better civic management across Madurai.
