Rs.78,000 Subsidy Boosts Solar Adoption

With electricity consumption and power tariffs continuing to rise across households, rooftop solar power systems are emerging as a practical long-term solution for consumers in Tamil Nadu. In this context, Nanayam Vikatan and Darling Solar are jointly organizing an awareness programme titled “Free Electricity on Your Terrace” on May 16 in Madurai. The event aims to educate the public about rooftop solar installations, central government subsidies of up to Rs.78,000, long-term electricity savings, and the process of generating electricity independently at home. Experts will also explain the financial and technical aspects of adopting solar energy systems for residential use.

Key Highlights of the Programme

Madurai, Tamil Nadu, urban households, independent homeowners, rooftop property owners, electricity consumers, Darling Solar, Nanayam Vikatan

Central government subsidy up to Rs.78,000, estimated installation cost of Rs.2.10 lakh for a 3kW solar setup, effective consumer expense reduced to nearly Rs.1.32 lakh, daily generation of around 12 units of electricity, nearly 360 units per month, up to 25 years of operational usage

Rising electricity bills, increasing domestic power demand, growing importance of renewable energy, awareness on self-generated electricity, promotion of central subsidy schemes, encouragement for rooftop solar adoption among middle-class families

Awareness event scheduled on May 16 at 6 PM, venue at Hotel Tamilnadu Pandiyan on Alagar Kovil Road in Madurai, technical interaction by Darling Solar Director Navaraj Murugan, motivational address by speaker and writer V. Ramakrishnan, free entry for the public, prior registration facility available

Organisers have appealed to the public to participate in large numbers and gain detailed understanding about rooftop solar systems and the long-term benefits of renewable energy adoption.
