Information available from administrative sources suggests that September 17 is expected to involve other major official and religious events, including a proposed expansion programme for the Kamarajar breakfast scheme in Virudhunagar district and the Meenakshi Amman Temple Kumbabishekam in Madurai. These engagements are said to be among the factors behind discussions on moving the gold ring scheme launch to September 25.
Usilampatti is being considered as a possible venue because the region is closely associated with traditions surrounding the Thaai Maaman Seer custom. Officials are reportedly carrying out preparatory work at the Usilampatti Government Hospital in anticipation of the programme.
According to a senior district administration official quoted in the source information, gold rings for around 6,500 children have been kept ready under the scheme from June 22 until now. The official also indicated that approximately 1,500 beneficiaries in Usilampatti could receive gold rings.
