Preparations for the September 17 Kumbabishekam at the Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple officially commenced with the traditional Muhurtha pole installation ceremony held on Saturday. The ritual began with special Vedic prayers performed by temple priests at the old Thirukkalyana Mandapam, where sacred offerings, holy water abhishekam, and deeparadhana were conducted in the Yagasala. The Muhurtha pole was later installed at 11:40 a.m. near the junction of the North and East Aadi Streets close to the Thousand Pillar Hall, marking the ceremonial beginning of the final phase of preparations for the temple’s consecration.
