The Madurai District Differently Abled Welfare Department has implemented several major welfare initiatives over the past three months, providing modern smartphones to 102 visually impaired and speech and hearing-impaired beneficiaries. Each smartphone, valued at ₹13,800, has been distributed to improve access to education, government services, employment opportunities, and digital communication. During the same period, 14 persons with spinal cord disabilities received specially modified three-wheel vehicles fitted with attachment wheels, each worth ₹1.14 lakh. Additionally, under the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme, 14 beneficiaries were provided artificial limbs worth a total of ₹15.29 lakh to support rehabilitation and help them return to independent daily life.
